The Ole Johannessen Family
The Family of Ole Johannessen and Karen Hansdatter (the Birth Family of the Editor's Paternal Grandmother's Mother), on the Qvaxrud Farm, Østre Toten
Parish, Oppland County, Norway. The Toten Økomuseum reports 24-year-old Ole Johannessen (the maternal grandfather of the editor's paternal grandmother) married 22-year-old Karen Hansdatter, the daughter of Farmer Hans Davidsen of Verslien farm, on March 17, 1837.
On June 6, 1837, Karen gave birth to her first child, Maria Olsdatter (the mother of the editor's paternal grandmother). According to her Døpte, Maria was baptized on July 2, 1837. Hans and Christian of
Verslien, and Karen Christiansdatter of Gjestrum were among her baptismal witensses.
A Toten Økomuseum report indicates the Ole Joahnnessen family was resident on the Verslien farm from 1837 to 1845, when they moved to the Qvaxrud farm where the family remained until Ole's death on December 10, 1884.
Over the years Ole Johannessen's status was listed as soldier, tailor, cotter, and farmer. |
